Thank you to Silvia Obando, my very gracious organizer for all my on land logistics, for endless volunteer hours spent in putting together a very successful swim! This not only included countless letters to potential sponsors, there were phone calls too numerous to mention, driving me around, and the inclusion in Silvia Obando and her mother’s foundation “Paz Universal” which was tremendously helpful since it involved tax free receipts for sponsoring hotels. My gratitude cannot be expressed in words for all the time Silvia spent in helping this marine sanctuary swim come to fruition.

Thank you, Thomas Nagel, owner of Cuna del Angel, for seven nights in the “Angel’s cradle”!  It was a treat to be in your wonderful space and the buffet breakfasts are to die for!  Thank you also for hosting me a second time.

Thank you to all the wonderful staff, management and owners of Parador Resort and Spa, for fourteen nights of immense luxury, exquisite service and the most amazing location in the country!  It was the longest time I ever spent in one hotel and the most schools in the surrounding area that I had the pleasure to teach at.  Alvaro spent most of those days with me chauffeuring me to the various schools, some in very remote and rural locations, and helped me with computer set ups and take downs as well as kept me fed and watered.  It was the first time that I actually had a chauffeur take me to the schools and it made it so much easier for me knowing I was looked after.  Jorge arranged a film crew to do a documentary on my swim as well as on their beautiful land, and even though a technical flaw made this documentary impossible to present to the world since the images did not record, it was a wonderful experience to work with a truly artistic team.  They later retook the filming in the Northern province of Guanacaste in the hotel Sugarbeach, and it has since been shown numerous times in Costa Rica.

Thank you, Hotel Punta Leona, for three nights accommodation and breakfasts.  It was my first time at Punta Leona and while there, I experienced for the first time the Red Tide.  It gave me an opportunity to give a staff workshop regarding this tragic phenomenon and I found the staff to be extremely receptive and willing to help in any way.

Thank you, Interbus, for a sponsored bus journey with all my luggage from Punta Leona to Potrero!

Thank you, Marie-Cecile and family, for accommodating me during the Easter week!  It was wonderful to be living with a family and even have a chance to cook for them, something I miss while staying in hotels.  Thank you Marie-Cecile also for accompanying me on a kayak during one day’s swim, you and I experienced for the first time a truly thick Red Tide, and even though you were ill from the vile smell you stayed with me until the end!

Thank you, owners of Conchal Hotel, for five nights accommodation and breakfast at your lovely small hotel so central to many schools, making it easy for me to reach numerous schools in the area and teach hundreds of students!

Thank you, Sugarbeach Hotel, for six nights accommodation and all the meals – so delicious! – in one of my favorite locations in all of Costa Rica!  This was my second time at Sugarbeach Hotel and where I “survived” last year’s Tsunami.  A special thank you to Sarah for hosting the 14 school children during their performance of “Pirate Fishing”, making them feel welcome and feeding and watering them!  They really appreciated your hospitality especially since it was their first time performing in front of a general audience!

Thank you, MINAET, for allowing me access to Isla San Jose in the Archipelago of Murcielagos for four days of camping on this luminous island while swimming through this enormous marine park!  Thank you to Samba and Diego for companionship and shared meals in the evenings after exhausting days of swimming, and sharing with me your stories of ocean protection.

Thank you, Jaime Lara and Alyeri Luna, for hosting and feeding me for three nights at your welcoming home, and thank you, Jaime, for driving me to the airport on my departure day from the country!

Thank you, dear Adriana Domenech and everyone at El Remanso who made my 3 night, 4 day stay from the 23th to the 26th of February, 2012, so very enjoyable at El Remanso! Your amazing sponsorship did not only include all my meals and accomodation, but also several lovely tours! It was a wonderful beginning to the continuation of my interrupted swim!

Thank you to Adrian, Brian and Marleny at Drake Bay Wilderness Resort for sponsoring me for altogether 11 nights, first from January 9 to 11, 2012, then from Febrary 26 to to March 6,  including all my meals, at one of the most amazing places in the world. It was so much more than a place to stay after exhausting swim days and school teaching days, you were my family during those days and were totally there for me when I had to rush back to Canada to bury my beloved 23 year old son Silvan, and when I came back, our long talks were truly therapeutic. Your love and compassion will stay with me forever.

Thank you to Gary and all the staff who graced me with their lovely presence for my 2 nights, including New Years Eve!

Thank you, Anonymous Donor, for your incredibly generous donation of $2700 towards boat support, transportation, and hotel expenses!  I am astonished at the miracle of finding this level of support by someone who has only met me once in person.  Thank you, thank you!
